Treating Gum Disease
Gum disease is another name for periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is an oral infection that destroys teeth, surrounding gums, and bone structures. Periodontal disease affects tooth loss and current research suggests it’s associated with other systemic diseases like stroke, bacterial pneumonia, diabetes, heart disease, an increased risk during pregnancy.
When diagnosed and treated in it’s early stages , it is reversible. This is known as Gingivitis and it consists of red, inflamed gums, that bleed easily. Regular brushing , flossing and dental visits are a must !
Symptoms that suggest the presence of periodontal disease:
- Bleeding Gums
- Loose Teeth
- New Spaces Between Teeth
- Persistent Bad Breath
- Tender or Receding Gums
- Pus on Teeth and Gums
- Bone loss
